Today, we still live in different conditions than several years ago. As we know that there are many patients of covid. That’s why we are still prohibited to do certain activities, especially in public places.

What do you miss?

I think we miss the same thing: the sense of togetherness.

Many months ago, I can gather with my big family without any trouble. But now, I cannot gather on holiday with my sister and my little niece who lives far away from home.

There is a big difference from the previous years.

There is a jargon of tradition in my country, Indonesia, that says, “Makan gak makan asal kumpul.” The meaning is … eating or not eating is not a problem, as long as we can get together.”

I feel the sense of togetherness in that saying.

Today is different. We can eat, even though we don’t eat together as usual.

However, I get some points or lessons from this condition. Perhaps, it can be a takeaway for you.

Family, siblings, and close friends are very important.

We always need them because they are the first place when we need true love, help, or support.

Time is more priceless than money.

Maybe it’s cliche but it’s true. During the pandemic, I became more aware of the time. Even though I don’t use enough money to go on vacation or eating delicious food, I’m still happy. It’s because of the time I use.

Perhaps, money can buy happiness, for a while. But knowing how to use the time can make me happy all day long.

Waiting is not a good option.

During the pandemic, we used to wait in the house or the safe area. We have to wait for doing something. Then it makes us aware that waiting will not give us a result. It encourages us to do another thing. We should do something different instead.

Waiting is good to find the right solution. But it won’t help you when you hope for something to change. You should take action.

To keep me still sane when I miss something is to be grateful and do something good. I believe that everything happens for a certain reason. Therefore, I try to accept whatever comes to me.

At least, I get three important lessons from the pandemic situation: loving people, using time as effectively as possible, and doing something rather than waiting for the uncertainty.
