These are the Reasons Why I Love Teaching
My childhood dream was not to be a teacher. I wanted to be a doctor instead. But since I grew up, I started my teaching journey. I took English Education Major at college. However, before I started my study at college, I hadn’t an enormous desire to teach. I thought teaching is not easy for me.
But one day, I thought about the power of teaching. I got inspiration from some people. They inspired me to give more rather than get more. They inspired me to empower others and building a better regeneration. And teaching is the way to give and empower others.
And now, I love teaching and I make it routine and habit. I don’t want to waste my time without teaching. It becomes an important part of my life. It has been my IKIGAI.
I commit to teaching but I’m still learning. It means that teaching is a long journey. It’s not only a job but also a long-lasting profession without retirement.
I change my perspective of teaching. Now I love teaching and it becomes my ninja way.
These are what I learn during the process of teaching.
Teaching means transferring important knowledge.
We get knowledge from our teachers. Our teachers get knowledge from their teachers, and so on. If the teachers don’t transfer their knowledge, maybe we will be trapped by confusion.
That’s why I won’t let the knowledge disappear. It must be taught to others, to you. Because you are important. You might be the next leader or the next entrepreneur. I hope you can become the best version of yourself so that you will create an impact on the world.
Teaching will strengthen our understanding.
Once you teach something to others, you will strengthen your understanding of a topic or subject. It helps you to recall what you’ve learned before.
I remember Richard Feynman's learning method. This method is about teaching what we learn as simply as possible. If it is understood by a child, meaning that you understand the topic you learned.
When I teach something to you, I strengthening my understanding.
Teaching can empower others.
I’m not a motivator who can easily empower others and lift them. But I try another way. It is by teaching. I try to empower others by sharing my knowledge, perspective, and opinion.
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon that we can use to change the world.”
I agree with Nelson Mandela cause teaching is a part of education and education is a part of a life-changing experience.
Today, we are in the digital era where the internet is in our hands. Many things can be done online. One of them is teaching. Teaching is not only in the class but also in the online environment. This is what I do right now. I want to teach people online as well as possible. It doesn’t change the real class but it is the alternative.
Those are the reasons why I love teaching. It’s not a one-night decision. But when I start teaching I get many insights along the way. As I said before that teaching gives people important knowledge. Teaching helps me strengthen my understanding. And teaching can empower others to become better.
