Nokia Comes back

I want to tell you about the first handphone I have ever used: Nokia.

I used Nokia in Junior High School. It was 1112 type. It was not expensive and high-tech, but the body was strong enough. It was a time when a smartphone was not part of a lifestyle. I didn’t seek prestige but function instead. I was happy to use it as long as I could do calling and messaging.

Nokia was a giant phone company at that time. Many people, including my friend, used it because there were fewer competitors. I could see Nokia almost everywhere. Nokia would be the future of telecommunication.

But!

One day, the condition changed. Other competitors came into the market. They change the constellation of phone companies. They tried to innovate in phone style, like changing the keypad to qwerty and improving the feature. They called it a smartphone.

The need for smartphones increases.

But, again, the constellation changed when the touchscreen smartphone started to dominate the market, until now. It’s a surprise for Nokia.

After that, I didn’t see Nokia anymore. Nokia suddenly disappears from the market. I thought it couldn’t handle the competition. I didn’t know.

Several days ago, I saw something interesting. I saw content that talked about the rise of Nokia. Whoa! That’s why I chose this topic. It could be a lesson for us.

So, what happened with Nokia right now?

Yep. Nokia comes back. It competes in the smartphone market. It is not the old Nokia, but the new Nokia because it adapts to the touchscreen smartphone.

What about the quality?

I don’t know precisely, but according to a review I watched, the smartphone is good enough. I mean, there are still pros and cons to it.

I appreciate Nokia because they are brave enough to compete.

Pekka Lundmark, CEO, and President of Nokia, once said,

“I am proud to be a signatory of the UN Global Compact statement. Nokia will play its part by ensuring our technology is designed to solve real societal issues and enable greater opportunity for all.”

Nokia might be a newborn baby in the smartphone market today, but it will survive again.

Nokia is like a legend that comes back and rises. The company wants to go beyond the old Nokia. That’s why innovation is a crucial part of it because it should compete with other large companies.

Can Nokia survive longer in the market? Let us see.
